Hang Sơn Đoòng, located in Vietnam, is the largest cave in the world, stretching over 4 kilometers in length, approximately 100 meters in width, and reaching up to 240 meters in height. Known for its breathtaking beauty, the cave features a unique ecosystem with its own weather system, massive chambers large enough to house city blocks, and a small pool inside where visitors can swim. Camping within the cave and exploring its depths offers an unparalleled adventure.
This natural wonder has garnered international recognition, having been featured in media outlets such as National Geographic, The New York Times, Lonely Planet, and Good Morning America. It also appeared in the Hollywood film Pan: In the Neverland (2015) by Warner Bros. Exploring Hang Sơn Đoòng requires a guided tour due to its complexity and scale. Expert guides ensure both safety and an educational experience, providing geological insights while navigating through subterranean rivers and stunning landscapes.
The journey begins with trekking through Hang Én Cave, which serves as a gateway to Hang Sơn Đoòng. For first-time trekkers, the experience can be physically demanding but incredibly rewarding. A couple who joined the Hang Én tour with Oxalis Travel shared how the company’s professionalism and organization made the journey smooth and enjoyable, despite their inexperience.
Hang Én is a majestic cave known for its sheer beauty and unique features, including a campsite inside and a thriving population of tens of thousands of swallows. Visitors often share amusing anecdotes about dodging bird droppings when the swallows return to their nests. The trek involves challenging but exhilarating activities, including navigating tight spaces, getting muddy, ascending large walls with ropes, and sweating through the tropical heat. Despite the effort, every moment is well worth it.
The Oxalis team provides excellent support, with each participant paired with a porter to carry supplies. The tour group typically includes around 10 participants, 2 tour guides, 2 safety assistants, a chef, and about 10 porters. The guides, such as Mr. Thà and Mr. Tuấn, enrich the journey by sharing fascinating stories about nature and local life, making the trek feel shorter and more engaging. The porters are equally charming, friendly, and professional, and the local people’s fluency in English ensures smooth communication throughout the trip.
Throughout the trek, participants enjoy moments of rest by cool springs, refreshing fruit breaks, and camaraderie within the group. Camping inside the cave and swimming in its pool provide a memorable reward after a long day of exploration.
Hang Sơn Đoòng and Hang Én offer a once-in-a-lifetime experience, combining natural beauty, adventure, and cultural connection. Visitors leave with unforgettable memories of the Earth’s power and wonder, making this journey an absolute must for adventure seekers and nature...
