Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, located in Lusaka, Zambia, is the country's main gateway to the world. Having recently visited the airport, I must say that my overall experience was quite positive.
Firstly, the airport boasts a modern and clean infrastructure, providing a pleasant ambiance for travelers. The terminal is well-maintained, and the facilities are well-organized, making navigation through the airport a hassle-free experience. The seating areas are comfortable, and there are numerous shops and dining options available for passengers to relax and grab a bite.
The airport staff are friendly, helpful, and professional. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and prompt assistance. The security procedures were efficient and thorough, ensuring the safety of all passengers. The immigration and customs processes were relatively smooth and quick, minimizing any potential delays.
In terms of amenities, Kenneth Kaunda International Airport offers a decent range of services. The duty-free shopping section is well-stocked, offering a variety of local and international products. Additionally, there are currency exchange counters, ATMs, and car rental services available, catering to the diverse needs of travelers.
Transportation options to and from the airport are readily available. Taxis and shuttle services are easily accessible, providing convenient connections to various destinations within Lusaka and beyond. The airport's proximity to the city center is also a plus, making it easily reachable within a reasonable timeframe.
However, one area that could use improvement is the Wi-Fi connectivity. Although the airport provides Wi-Fi access, the signal strength can be inconsistent at times, which may pose an inconvenience for those relying on a stable internet connection.
In conclusion, Kenneth Kaunda International Airport offers a positive travel experience with its modern infrastructure, friendly staff, and efficient services. It serves as a gateway to explore the beautiful country of Zambia and beyond. With some minor enhancements to the Wi-Fi connectivity, the airport would be an even more appealing hub...

Read moreI, Joshua Fritz, was travelling to Cairo via Johannesburg on March 12th, 2023. As I was passing through Kenneth Kaunda Intl Airport, I was stopped by security. A female officer removed two Egyptian silver bars and one gold pendant from my purse. She informed me that the items needed to be cleared by customs. She then called the Customs Officer. I explained that the items had already been examined November 15, 2022 and there was nothing to declare to Customs. The female officer said that I need to pay import duties. I explained that I am not importing the goods, I am exiting with them.
The Customs Officer insisted that I need to clear the items with Customs and pay import duties. He escorted me downstairs. The officers confiscated the items and asked me to phone Ministry of Mines to have the items assessed. I insisted that these were my personal items I retain in my purse, on my person, and I am not intending to import them into Zambia.
The interrogation over the items caused me to miss my flight.
I am disappointed with the lack of knowledge and service offered to me as I tried to board my flight. Instead of assisting me, I was detained and my personal property was confiscated unduly. There was no evidence to suggest that I was importing anything into the country, on the contrary, the fact that I was exiting with the items proves otherwise.
I am asking Customs to immediately return my personal property to me, and compensate me for unlawfully detaining me, causing me to miss my flight. The cost of the flight is about $450USD.
A letter of apology would be considered a basic level of professionalism in this case.
Respectfully, Joshua...
