This is a very strategic place and no doubt the founders vision can be cleared inferred from what they had intended to achieve, a spacious environment, to accommodate some football training grounds/ facilities, and a good enough space for many other activities.
However, what has become of this vision is a wonder, when one looks at the state of the grounds, it has generally become derelict, with grass growing like a fallow land. It's a sorry sight to say the least. Again, its not as if one can be oblivious to some of the reasons why it is the way it looks, it's a general reflection of the economic times. Nonetheless, there's also some accountability that must be shouldered at the level of management. Like everyone else my guess is, this football club is not just a local club in Bulawayo, but a team with country wide support, as it's affectionately known, "iteam yezwelonke". Management didn't do enough to invest in this place, during those dizzy heights of income, they should have built some upmarket facilities, which would have been generating income especially in these downturn of economic times. Looking at the club house, one can tell that although it's still standing, it's not something that represents today and not even the future of such a decorated national club like Highlanders, please management, Highlanders is not a "Lowlanders", get back to the drawing board and bring the shine into this...
