"Les Misérables" in Toronto: Forever Moved by the Music ✨🎵
Toronto’s Les Mis run has ended! What a once-in-a-lifetime experience with the iconic 24601! 🎟️🎭 I’ve been humming Who Am I? nonstop… Heard mixed reviews about the Toronto cast beforehand, but WOW—the grand music and epic staging left me stunned! 🎶💥 This 1832 tale still resonates 40 years later. Timeless doesn’t cover it. Cast Thoughts 🎭: Casting: A few misses (Fantine deserved closer matching to the role). 🤔 Vocals: Decent, but… JVJ & Javert: Felt breathy in Act 1. 😅 Fantine: Missed that heart-shattering fragility. 💔 Little Cosette & Inn Duet: Slightly underwhelming. 🎪 Act 2 Surprises: JVJ’s “Bring Him Home”: TEARS. 🎶💧 Marius & Éponine: SLAYED. 👏 Little Gavroche: Adorable AND talented! His death scene + Empty Chairs = UGLY CRY. 😢 Visuals & Staging 🎬: Loved the iron gate duet, Javert’s suicide leap, the barricade battle, and JVJ rescuing Marius in the sewers! 💥🚽 Classic vs. Toronto 🎭🆚: Obsessed with the 10th/25th anniversaries and London’s OG cast (Colm Wilkinson’s JVJ, Philip Quast’s Javert, Lea Salonga’s Éponine… GOATS). 🐐 But Toronto’s run gave me raw emotion and joy—different, but unforgettable. Ranking: Les Mis is now my #2 musical ever! (Sorry, Phantom still reigns as my thrice-seen fave. 👑🎭) PSA: I messed up our seats! 🎟️🤦♂️ Our seats: Orchestra Row O—way too far! Couldn’t see faces! 😵 Pro Tip: Avoid Prince of Wales Orchestra beyond Row K. Dress Circle front rows = BETTER VIEW + VALUE. 💺✨ “Still humming ‘Do You Hear the People Sing?’ 👇 Tag your fave Les Mis moment!” #Musicals #LesMis #TorontoArts #TheatreNerd 🎭💖
