"National 'Layover' Tour: Arizona (Part 1) ✈️🌵"

Our "National Layover Tour" series has arrived in Arizona! 🚗💨 After landing at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, we picked up our rental car and drove 1.5 hours south to Tucson (⚠️pronounced "TOO-sahn," not "TUCK-sun"). January weather here was a dream—mid-70s (°F) and sunny! ☀️ 🌇 Tucson First Impressions Surprisingly clean for a U.S. city! 🧼 Some potholes and construction, but downtown had very few homeless people (unlike other places…). Vibe: Chill, desert aesthetic, great for nature lovers. 🌵 Saguaro National Park (⚠️Pronounced "sah-WAH-ro," not "sah-GWAH-ro"!) The park is split into East & West Districts (on opposite sides of Tucson). 📍West District Must-Dos: 1️⃣ Red Hills Visitor Center (great intro!) 2️⃣ Desert Discovery Trail (easy & scenic) 3️⃣ Bajada Loop Drive (4WD recommended!) 4️⃣ Hugh Norris Trail (best for hiking) 5️⃣ Valley View Overlook (epic sunset spot!) ✨ Bonus: Sonora Desert Museum (separate ticket, worth it!). 📍East District Highlights: 1️⃣ Rincon Mountain Visitor Center 2️⃣ Cactus Forest Drive (tons of photo ops! 📸) 3️⃣ Freeman Homestead Trail (mind-blowing—did you know saguaros have wooden skeletons inside?! 🌵💀) 🌮 Tucson Food Recs Mexican food is a MUST (border state vibes!). Check out Barrio/Menlo Park area. Chinese options: Jun Dynasty & Noodleholics (decent but not mind-blowing). 🌆 Phoenix Pit Stop Our road trip ended in Phoenix—huge, modern, and full of wide highways (5-6 lanes!) 🛣️ + tons of motorcycles. 🏍 📍Phoenix Attractions: 1️⃣ Dobbins Lookout (sunset + city lights! 🌆) 2️⃣ Hole in the Rock (quirky natural formation) 3️⃣ ASU Art Museum (cool if you're into that 🎨) 🍖 Phoenix Food Picks: 1️⃣ Little Miss BBQ (legendary, but long lines! 🥩) 2️⃣ Zu & Pocha (Korean vibes) 3️⃣ Society (trendy spot) 4️⃣ Unos Tacos y Birria (🔥 birria tacos!) 5️⃣ Hash Kitchen (brunch heaven 🍳) 🚗 Final Thoughts: Phoenix is huge with tons of food (including Chinese!) and things to explore—wish I had more than one day! Comment with your recs for next time! 👇 Next up: Arizona Road Trip Part 2! Trip Date: Jan 2023 Rental Car: Ford Edge (cop car vibes 🚔—fast acceleration, terrible brakes… perfect for people who love car crashes 💀) #NorthAmericanLife #Arizona #RoadTrip #Phoenix #Tucson #TravelDiaries #DesertVibes 🌵✨
