[New Orleans 4-Day & 3-Night Guide]: Alligators & Raccoons Are Buddies
【DAY 1】 🏨 Accommodation: Virgin Hotel 🚗 Transportation: Uber & Walking 🚶 🍽️ Dining: Since we arrived on a Saturday night, every somewhat famous restaurant had a long wait—so we ordered takeout. Unfortunately, the takeout wasn’t good (maybe it’s just the takeout quality?). I read that crawfish in areas around NOLA are bigger, and I have to say the crawfish at this spot was just so-so in both size and freshness. The oysters were small too, but their garlic cheese preparation was flavorful and delicious 🧀! 【DAY 2】 Oak Alley Plantation & Swamp Tour 🚗 Transportation: Tour Bus 🚌 All the day’s itinerary followed the tour group’s schedule—it was super hassle-free and convenient. The schedule wasn’t tight at all; we took our time, and this ended up being my favorite part of the entire trip! If you love natural scenery, you’ll definitely find it cozy and pleasant. Oak Alley Plantation is incredibly quiet and serene. A guide will take you around to dive into the daily life of the plantation’s owners and the estate’s history. When you open the master bedroom door and step onto the balcony, you’ll see the iconic, famous oak-lined avenue 🌳—it’s breathtaking! A tip: Bring your own snacks before heading to Oak Alley Plantation. It’s not that there’s no food there; it’s that the food is really, really bad. (Of course, if you’re an adventurous eater like me, you can try it—though you’ll probably regret it afterward 😂.) 🍽️ Dinner: Thaihey NOLA This Thai fusion restaurant saved me from the “nothing-to-live-for” mood after I tried that plastic-tasting green tea during my adventurous lunch at the plantation ☕. The portion sizes are generally small, so you can order more of what you want without feeling too full. I highly recommend the fried eggplant and the tom yum-flavored creamy lobster pasta 🦞. The soft-shell crab had a nice flavor, but the crab itself wasn’t very fresh. #nola #NOLA #NewOrleans #NewOrleansFood #NewOrleansTravel #food #StudyAbroadPLOG #Raccoons #Wildlife #NewOrleansTravelGuide #OakAlleyPlantation
