After 15 years in the U.S., I finally made it to New Orleans — and wow, what a city! Pure bliss! 🐎 Jackson Square This used to be the heart of colonial New Orleans. It was renamed to honor General Andrew Jackson (later the 7th U.S. president) after his victory at the Battle of New Orleans in 1812. ✌️🇺🇸 👻 Ghost Tour by Night The French Quarter is packed with haunted tales and vampire lore. Don’t miss the Ursuline Convent and the infamous LaLaurie Mansion — yes, the one Nicolas Cage once owned! 🏚️ 🔮 Voodoo Ceremony Experience We joined a session led by a Voodoo Queen who shared the real history of Voodoo — far from how Hollywood portrays it. A truly eye-opening cultural immersion! 🌳 Oak Alley Plantation Tour An incredibly photogenic Southern plantation about an hour from the city. It was a filming location for Interview with the Vampire — Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt at their finest! 🎬💫 🐊 Swamp Tour with Airboat Even in November, the weather was warm enough to spot over 20 alligators! An unforgettable ride through lush wetlands. 🚢 Natchez Steamboat Tour You can’t visit NOLA without cruising the Mississippi on the historic Natchez Steamboat! Listen to the captain share stories of America’s riverfront past. 🍺 Bars & Live Music Check out Bourbon Street and Frenchman Street for vibrant nightlife. For elegant jazz piano and stunning views, head to The Pontchartrain Hotel — amazing bands and skyline vibes! 🌃🎹 🍽️ Southern Food Gem Don’t miss Lagniappe Bakehouse & Coffee — a fantastic bakery owned by a talented Black female chef.
