ŪMA Discovery | Art Deco | Brussels Villa Empain
🌟Villa Empain is not only an important gathering place for the artistic and cultural life of Brussels but also an outstanding witness to the Art Deco movement. 🌟Built in the early 1930s by architect Michel Polak at the initiative of Baron Louis Empain, it reflects the historical past of Brussels, having served as a private residence, museum, Soviet Embassy, and headquarters of the Luxembourg television channel RTL. In the early 1980s, it was partially destroyed and abandoned, falling into a state of disrepair. 🌟The Boghossian Foundation acquired Villa Empain in 2006 and began its restoration, a process that took four years. This complex and delicate restoration project was carried out with respect for the building’s history and was awarded the Europa Nostra Prize by the European Union. The villa opened in 2010 as an art and exchange center between Eastern and Western cultures. 🌟If you appreciate Belgian aesthetics or Art Deco architecture, this niche spot is definitely worth a visit. This time, ŪMA happened to catch the Limited Edition Prints Fair, which was a worthwhile trip. 🌟From April 10th, the exhibition of Joseph & Anni Albers starts, highly recommended! #ŪMA_Discovery #Brussels_Niche_Attractions #Belgium_Discovery #Brussels_Discovery
