🇨🇦【Camping Plog】48 Hours in the Wild - July Edition 🏕️
We ventured to Oastler Lake Provincial Park for a weekend getaway—and let’s just say, this underrated park has its quirks! The Campsite Reality Check: 🚂 Train Troubles: Frequent loud train noises (bring earplugs!). ⛺ Sloped Ground: Our lakeside spot was on a steep hill—sleeping felt like slowly sliding into the lake. Day 1️⃣ - Settling In: 🛒 Gear Hack: Dusted off our Costco wagon (finally useful!) and even lent it to neighbors for paddleboarding. 🏕️ Vintage Coleman Tent: Old but reliable—pitched on the least sloped patch we could find. 🍜 Dinner: Pre-made cold noodles + store-bought BBQ pork + cucumber = easy & delicious. 🌅 Evening Vibes: Sunset fishing 🎣 + paddleboarding + cozy campfire. Day 2️⃣ - Rain & Play: ☕ Morning Coffee: Essential after a train-disrupted sleep. 🍲 Lunch: Early sukiyaki hotpot (recipe testing mode!). 🏄 Water Fun: Paddleboarding + swimming (though the steep shore was tricky). 🌧️ Rainy Escape: Hid under mosquito nets playing cards + more sukiyaki. 🔥 Fire Magic: Watching rain and flames—peak camping vibes. 🚿 Post-Shower Bliss: Nothing beats that 3x fresher feeling. Day 3️⃣ - Packing Up: ☀️ Sun Returns! Slept better (train ghosted us?). 🥩 Grilled Beef Ribs: Too rich—recipe needs tweaking (stay tuned!). 🐿️ Chipmunk Party: Bold little guys everywhere (don’t feed them—fines apply!). 🛒 Exhausting Exit: Hauling gear uphill with the wagon = arm day workout. Final Thoughts: ✅ Water = summer camping success (paddleboarding FTW!). ❌ Train + slope = dealbreakers for a return trip. #OntarioCamping #CampLife #WildernessVibes #SummerAdventures #CampfireCooking #PaddleboardLife
