🍣 Jabistro Omakase Review: A Solid DT Date Spot 🇨🇦
"Good for a date, but not your jaw-dropping omakase experience" 😅 We initially booked Jabistro for their Summerlicious menu but switched to the omakase after comparing options - and while it didn't blow us away, it was still a perfectly pleasant dining experience with great ambiance for a date night! 📍 Location & Ambiance Spacious tables with comfortable distancing between parties Great for dates - Saw several couples on their first outing while we were there 💕 Located on bustling Richmond St West in Toronto's downtown core 🍱 The Omakase Experience Starters: Lobster Miso Soup - Pleasant lobster flavor but surprisingly light on ingredients 🦞 Sashimi Platter - Freshness was on point, though nothing extraordinary 🐟 Seaweed Wrap with Wagyu & Sea Urchin - Unexpected star of the meal! 🌟 The sweet uni paired beautifully with the rich wagyu fat Soy Cream Cheese - Salty and addictive (though 3 pieces might be too much - it's very rich!) 🧀 Nigiri Sushi (5 pieces): Solid execution but nothing that made us go "wow" Standard fare you'd expect from a mid-tier omakase Aburi Sushi (5 pieces): Saba (mackerel) & Hotate (scallop) stood out with their torch-seared perfection The other pieces were... just okay 🤷♀️ Dessert - Panna Cotta: Too dense for our liking (more like a pudding than a light cream) Not overly sweet, which was nice, but ultimately forgettable 🍨 💰 Value & Verdict Portion sizes were generous (that sushi rice is no joke!) Atmosphere is the real highlight - Perfect for dates or casual dinners Price point is fair for DT Toronto Final rating: 6.5/10 - Good, not great "If you're expecting a mind-blowing omakase experience, Shunoko in Midtown is worth the extra $40 (check our other post!). But for a reliable, comfortable DT option that won't break the bank? Jabistro delivers just enough." 😌 #TorontoEats #OmakaseReview #DateNightIdeas #JapaneseFoodie #DTToronto #JabistroReview #SushiLovers #CasualFineDining #Summerlicious2025 #TorontoRestaurants
