​​"Who needs a theme park when you have nature's playground?"​​ 🐢🦌 Just got back from an unforgettable family camping trip to Fitzroy Provincial Park, and it was pure magic ✨ We spontaneously decided to visit Ottawa to see the tulips (because who can resist those colorful blooms?), and Fitzroy became our cozy home away from home 🏡 🚗 The Journey There ​​4-5 hour drive​​ from Toronto (perfect for a mini road trip!) 🚙💨 Our little turtles 🐢 came along for the adventure (yes, they traveled in style in their special carrier!) Fell asleep instantly in the car (as usual), only to wake up just before arrival 🌄 Saw people fishing by the river - the water was rushing fast, but the scenery was absolutely stunning 📸 🏕️ Our Campsite Experience ​​Site 201​​ - Not the most private spot, but the flat terrain made setting up super easy 🛠️ ​​Wildlife encounters​​ started immediately: Saw a mystery animal (coyote or fox?) running by too fast to identify 🦊 ​​Daily deer visits​​ - A cute family of three deer became our neighborhood buddies 🦌❤️ ​​Lake views​​ with breathtaking sunsets (though the geese made the grass... interesting 💩) 🛁 Facilities (The Good & The "Uh-Oh") ✅ ​​Clean water​​ (hot enough to make tea, lol!) ☕ ✅ ​​Working showers​​ (just one open, but hey, we're camping!) ❌ ​​Bug situation​​ - Let's just say we became best friends with our bug spray 🦟💨 ​​Giant bugs​​ that laugh at insect repellent (I screamed when one landed on my food 😱) ​​Spider sightings​​ everywhere (my husband and kid thought it was hilarious, not me!!!) 🍢 Nighttime Fun ​​Baby went to sleep right after bath time​​ (best parenting hack ever!) 💤 ​​Dad and I had our own BBQ party​​ under the stars 🍖✨ ​​Mosquitoes​​ were relentless, but the fire kept them somewhat at bay 🔥 🌟 Final Thoughts Despite the occasional bug drama, this trip was ​​absolutely worth it​​ 🥰 The peaceful surroundings, wildlife encounters, and quality family time made it a perfect getaway.
