Finally Checked Off My Vancouver Bucket List: The Legendary Raisu!

The other day, I went downtown with a friend for some shopping, and we usually end up eating Korean food—but lately, we’ve been soover it LOL. Originally, we planned to try Tozen, but unfortunately, it was closed that day. Then we realized—we’ve tried Kingyo before, but never its sister restaurant, the OG (internet-famous) Raisu! So we immediately made a beeline for it. Speaking of Kingyo… I still feel kinda bad for the staff there. Back when I first arrived in Vancouver, I rushed to pay the bill before my friend did… and completely forgot to leave a tip. Oh, and I also tried showing off my verylimited Japanese… 😅 Honestly, when it comes to Japanese food, we care more about aesthetics than taste—but somehow, we still ended up ordering threemains LOL. The server even warned us, but we were like, "We can handle it! We’re already here!"🤔 📸Ocean Offerings – Ordered purely for the looks (and to try a bit of everything!). Includes uni, salmon, scallop, eel, and a tamago tofu with a sweet-sour sauce that cuts through the richness perfectly. 📸Deluxe Seafood Bowl – A gorgeous sashimi don with scallops, salmon, uni, sweet shrimp, and more. Super fresh! But pro tip: If you’re dining as a duo, just get the Ocean Offerings + extra sashimi. Otherwise, you’ll drown in a bottomless pit of riceLOL. 📸Creamy Lobster Udon – The bowl was massive—we were stunned when it arrived! The first few bites were heavenly, but by the end, the richness had us struggling. Still delicious though! 📸 Seasonal Fruit & Plum Sake Set – A limited-edition flight that lets you sample different flavors. Pairs amazingly with sashimi—light, fruity, and not too boozy. Plus, you can eat the boozy-soaked fruit inside! 📍 2340 W 4th Ave, Vancouver (A bit far from downtown, but worth the trip—feels like a hidden gem!) #Vancouver #VancouverLife #VancouverFoodie #JapaneseCuisine
