NYC|Fried Chicken-Style Sweetbreads
This meal was back in April... just another day missing my ultimate dining partner 😢 Ever since trying Agi's Counter's olive oil Basque cheesecake, I'd been eagerly awaiting the chef's new venture. Finally convinced a friend to trek out to far-flung Red Hook with me! When it first opened, I saw several pastry chefs I follow raving about their soufflé—that's what initially drew me in. But the real star? The sweetbreads. As offal enthusiasts, my friend and I usually find sweetbreads boring (they're basically the only organ meat most American restaurants serve, and they all taste the same). But here? Game-changer. Coated in cornmeal and deep-fried, they tasted like the crispiest, juiciest fried chicken—hands down the most interesting sweetbreads we've ever had. 🍗✨ Another standout was the Pork Chop—normally I avoid pork (bad prep = gamey flavors), but theirs somehow resembled a perfectly cooked steak?! 🤯 In a city full of mediocre spots, finding three solid dishes felt like a win. Bonus: We hit a Red Hook gallery beforehand and discovered this "boring" neighborhood is actually kinda cool! Now that my favorite foodie friend has left NYC, I'm back to solo dining... the struggle is real. #NYCFood #NYCMichelin #HiddenGems #OffalLovers #RedHookEats
