【Tapisco】A Cozy Spanish Spot in The Hague

This little Spanish-inspired restaurant has a bright, refreshing decor, with seating available both indoors and outdoors. 🌞 The menu is just two pages, and although the staff speaks English, there’s no English menu provided. I tried two small dishes and a dessert: 🫧 Libyan Pork Ribs with Seasonal Vegetables: This dish features boneless Libyan pork ribs, lightly seared for a perfect char – tender and flavorful without being dry. Marinated in sherry, the pork takes on a vivid red hue, with a subtle sweetness and a hint of fruity aroma. Even for someone who usually avoids sweet dishes, this one was irresistibly appetizing! The side dish includes peppers, but they aren’t spicy – just a fresh peppery aroma that perfectly complements the sweet, savory pork. Both the color and taste are beautifully balanced. 🍖🌶️ 🫧 Cod Fillet and Grilled Octopus: This dish includes two cod fillets and half an octopus leg, accompanied by carrots, broccoli, and mashed potatoes. The cod is incredibly fresh and tender, seasoned minimally to let the quality shine through, reflecting the restaurant’s confidence in its ingredients. While fresh ingredients are standard for quality restaurants, the half octopus leg here truly surprised me. Expertly prepared, the octopus is soft and juicy without any mushiness, with a light salinity that’s just right. The mashed potatoes are another highlight – incredibly smooth and delicate, yet without any dense or heavy texture. 🐟🐙🥔 That said, the mashed potatoes were a bit salty for my taste, but pairing them with the mild cod balanced it out. However, the slightly hard carrot didn’t quite fit the otherwise harmonious dish. 🥕 🫧 Portuguese Egg Tart: Finding a Portuguese egg tart in a Spanish eatery felt like a must-try moment, honoring the chef’s confidence. Unfortunately, it was just okay – the pastry was flaky, the filling was soft with a touch of cinnamon for aroma, which was thoughtful. But alas, it was served cold! After eating, I couldn’t help but think, “KFC’s egg tarts are still a better deal!” 😂🥧 You can make reservations here, but it’s usually not crowded at lunchtime on weekdays. The real crowd arrives in the afternoon for tea time. 🕰️ #Restaurant #SpanishCuisine #HiddenGem #VibeDining #DateSpot #Michelin #MichelinBibGourmand #MustVisit
