DC's heart! π A park packed with icons: Capitol, Washington Monument, Reflecting Pool, Lincoln Memorial. Parade central! ππβοΈ Morning started at the Capitol, then raced to the Washington Monumentβa tribute to George Washington. Tallest stone structure on Earth! πΌπ₯ (Climbing it? Saved for another day!) Strolled past the WWII Memorial, honoring 16M servicemen. Sunken plaza, 56 granite pillars (states + territories), and a "Freedom Wall" with 4,000 gold stars. πΊπΈβ¨ Each star = 100 lives lost. Then, the Reflecting Poolβ610m of water mirroring the Monument. Trees, benches, pure magic at sunrise/sunset. π π Finally, the Lincoln Memorial. Marble masterpiece! Lincoln's statue, 36 pillars (states at his death), and the quote: "In this temple, as in the hearts of the people, for whom he saved the Union..." π½π¬ Day 1 left us SPEECHLESS.
