Stayed in a perfect apartment near the White Houseโsteps from the National Mall! ๐๏ธ๐ถโ๏ธ The National Mall? DC's heart! ๐ A park packed with icons: Capitol, Washington Monument, Reflecting Pool, Lincoln Memorial. Parade central! ๐๐โ๏ธ Morning started at the Capitol, then raced to the Washington Monumentโa tribute to George Washington. Tallest stone structure on Earth! ๐ผ๐ฅ (Climbing it? Saved for another day!) Strolled past the WWII Memorial, honoring 16M servicemen. Sunken plaza, 56 granite pillars (states + territories), and a "Freedom Wall" with 4,000 gold stars. ๐บ๐ธโจ Each star = 100 lives lost. Then, the Reflecting Poolโ610m of water mirroring the Monument. Trees, benches, pure magic at sunrise/sunset. ๐ ๐ Finally, the Lincoln Memorial. Marble masterpiece! Lincoln's statue, 36 pillars (states at his death), and the quote: "In this temple, as in the hearts of the people, for whom he saved the Union..." ๐ฝ๐ฌ Day 1 left us SPEECHLESS. Even this globe-trotter was mesmerized. Mom even joined a flash mob! ๐๐ถ DC's charm is undeniable. Legs = jelly. National Mall, you win.
