Saved for another day!) Strolled past the WWII Memorial, honoring 16M servicemen. Sunken plaza, 56 granite pillars (states + territories), and a "Freedom Wall" with 4,000 gold stars. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธโœจ Each star = 100 lives lost. Then, the Reflecting Poolโ€”610m of water mirroring the Monument. Trees, benches, pure magic at sunrise/sunset. ๐ŸŒ…๐ŸŒŒ Finally, the Lincoln Memorial. Marble masterpiece! Lincoln's statue, 36 pillars (states at his death), and the quote: "In this temple, as in the hearts of the people, for whom he saved the Union..." ๐Ÿ—ฝ๐Ÿ’ฌ Day 1 left us SPEECHLESS.
