🏰☕️ Half-Day Tour of Nymphenburg Palace in Munich

📍Nymphenburg Palace, built in the 18th century, is the largest Baroque palace in Germany and was once a summer retreat for the courtiers, located on the western outskirts of Munich. As it's one of the free attractions included in the Munich City Pass and we had ample time, we headed straight to Nymphenburg after visiting another city card-free attraction, the Deutsches Museum (highly recommended). 📍Take the subway from Schwanthalerhohe to Laimer Platz, switch to a bus on Hirschgartenallee, then walk for about 10 minutes to reach the palace, the whole journey takes 45 minutes. Unfortunately, the main palace, Nymphenburg Palace, was closed that day (seems like there was a significant event the next day that required preparation), so we couldn't enter the main building to admire the portraits of the 35 favorite concubines of Ludwig I, which made me, who was eager to see beautiful women, very sad. 📍It was a bit rainy and overcast that day, but the photos still turned out great. We spent half a day walking in the vast palace garden, which includes the Monopteros Temple, an exquisite court church, a court bathhouse, and a long central canal leading to a pond with swans (and ducks). It's definitely a great place to breathe in fresh air, have a picnic on the lawn, and read. 📍The Carriage Museum (Marstallmuseum) next to the palace is worth a visit, showcasing many gold-inlaid carriages used by German kings and queens, extremely luxurious and exquisite. In addition, the museum also has some exquisite porcelain used by the palace. 📍If you have extra time in Munich, it's recommended to visit Nymphenburg. It's spacious and less crowded, perfect for leisure. If you don't have a City Pass, you can buy a pass on-site. #Munich #MunichWeekend #NymphenburgPalaceMunich
