‼️ South Izu Chapter 🌊

In the previous post, we talked about West Izu and Central Izu, and now it's time for South Izu~The most famous thing about South Izu is its beautiful sea views. Also worth mentioning are the atmospheric seaside torii gates and the lesser-known cliff shrines. 🏨 Staying at Atagawa Hotel, with an incredible sea view! The hot spring is also very nice, and you can soak while watching the sea during the day. 🍛 I found a tonkatsu (fried pork cutlet) restaurant run by a family, which was delicious and affordable. 🌊 Central Izu 1️⃣-2️⃣ Day Tour 🚊 Black Ship Train: The train has 180-degree sea-viewing seats 💺 inside the carriage. No need to pay in advance, it's first come, first served. There weren't too many people in the summer morning around nine o'clock. I traveled from Izu Inatori to Izu Jitomata, and I think the sea view in this section is average. It's said that the best sea view is between Atagawa and Shanezawa 😁. I've attached the timetable! ⛰️ Nezashi Mountain Take the cable car 🚡 up to overlook the entire Shimoda Harbor and the Izu Islands, which is really beautiful~There are also beautiful (soon-to-wilt) hydrangeas on the mountain, and the shrine on the mountain can be used to pray for love, making Izu a great place to seek romantic fortunes. ⛩️ Shirahama Shrine: The oldest shrine in the Izu area, its formal name is Igu Na Bi Mi Mi no Kami Jinja (such a funny name), and it has a history of 2400 years. On the sea cliff, there is a red torii gate, which is a must-visit spot for photos, but the day I went, there was a strong wind, making it a disaster for taking photos. 🏖️ Shirahama Beach: From Shirahama Shrine to the seaside torii gate is Shirahama Beach. The white sand beach with a jelly-like sea is truly dreamy, and there are many people here for swimming and surfing~ 💮 Shimoda Park (June Hydrangea Limited Edition!) Shimoda Park is located on a hillside in the center of Shimoda City, with over three million beautiful hydrangeas, but only in June~ ⚓️ Perry Road: It is said that this is the road that Commodore Perry walked when he came to Japan with the Black Ships at the end of the Edo period. It's a very retro cobblestone street with Western-style houses and residences from the Meiji and Taisho periods. You can sit in a café here, which is suitable for relaxation and emptying your mind. 🗼 Irozaki: The southernmost point of the Izu Peninsula, where you can see the vast sea and steep cliffs. The highlights are the stone shrine on the cliff and the white lighthouse. 🏞️ Ryūgū Cave: It feels similar to Dō no Shima, both being caves. 📕 For more Japan travel guides, welcome to click on the homepage to view the Japan travel collection. #StartTheNewYearWithATrip #OffTheBeatenPathTravel #Izu #IzuTravel #SouthIzu #Shimoda #GlassSea #IslandTour #Shimoda#JapanTravel #WhereToGoForMayDay
