Irozaki Ocean Park — Attraction in Minamiizu

Irozaki Ocean Park is a scenic destination located at the southernmost point of Japan’s Izu Peninsula. This breathtaking destination that truly showcases the natural beauty of the Izu Peninsula. The dramatic cliffs, crystal-clear ocean, and refreshing sea breeze make it a perfect spot for nature lovers and photographers alike.

The Irozaki Lighthouse stands proudly on rugged cliffs, offering a striking contrast to the wild coastal scenery.

The most convenient way to get there is by car, as it allows for flexibility in exploring the area. There is parking available near the park, payment needed.

It is also can be assessed by public transportation, take a train to Izukyu-Shimoda Station on the Izu Kyuko Line. From there, you can take a bus to Irozaki (around 40 minutes). The bus ride offers scenic coastal.

I have no regrets visiting this...

One of those places that photos just don't capture. It seems to have been more popular in the past with derelict shops at the gateway, but now it's a modest visitor center with snacks and some omiyage. The sheer cliffs are spectacular, but what surprised me was the shrine embedded in the cliffside. And yes, you can get a goshuin or lucky charm. Some steep steps that might be treacherous in the wet....

parkingは普通車500円、単車100円。 ハイヒールや風でめくれるスカートは避けること。 トイレあり。 軽食あり。 ソーダフロート、カレー、焼きそばなど。 テラス席あり。 軽食屋からの景観は良くない。 車椅子や足が悪い人が行けるのは灯台までだろう。 神社に降りるには急で狭い階段を使うし、混雑時は手すりに頼れない可能性が高い。

軽食＆土産屋から徒歩5分。 灯台を通り過ぎたとこにある縁結びの神社（御朱印300円）と、岩場の景観を眺めるためのスポットだが、他に何か寄り道して楽しめるところはない。

先端の岩場から戻る時に気になる岩場の破れ目があるが、ソコはトイレ（画像アップ）だった。 扉はなく、いきなりトイレがある。 岩場の破れ目が気になる人が覗いては苦笑して戻ってくるので、何かあるのかと思って見に行ってしまった。 使用中でなくて良かった。

オーシャンパークの名前を引き継いでいるが、当時は植物園のような大きな温室もあり、確かにパークだった。 ここは長らく破綻して荒れ放題だった場所をリニューアルしたがパークとは程遠い。

500円払ってまで観るほどの場所だとは思わないが、一度は行っても良い。 神社に降りる階...
