🍽️ Venice Western Cuisine | Estro
On our last night in Venice, we chose a local restaurant with a bistro-like atmosphere, Estro, that's not star-rated but full of charm. From the menu, it was clear they specialized in traditional Venetian dishes, so we opted for à la carte instead of a set menu. We started with their daily raw fish appetizers: an oyster🦪 with a vinegar sauce, and a platter of yellowtail and tiger prawn sashimi, garnished with lemon jelly. It was a great start to the meal. Next was their signature "Traditional Venetian Fish Appetizer." This was the highlight of the day. On the far left were "Saor Shrimp"🦐, marinated with raw onions wrapped around raw scampi, which was incredibly refreshing and appetizing. In the middle were two crispy fried corn tortillas with creamy cod, a must-try snack for anyone visiting Venice! Next to it was a small bowl of roasted octopus with creamy potatoes and celeriac, with a very rich flavor! The first course was a pumpkin risotto with cod belly, a smooth and creamy dish that paired perfectly with the fatty richness of the cod. For the main course, we chose the famous dish "fish and chips."🐟 When it arrived, it was a pleasant surprise. The batter was well-seasoned, the cod was tender, and it came with crispy fried vegetables that changed my perception of traditional fried fish. It was served with a sweet and sour sauce and a creamy shellfish sauce.
