🏞️ Which Finger Lake is the Most Worth Visiting?
The Finger Lakes region consists of 11 lakes stretching from east to west: Otisco Lake, Skaneateles Lake, Owasco Lake, Cayuga Lake, Seneca Lake, Keuka Lake, Canandaigua Lake, Honeoye Lake, Canadice Lake, Hemlock Lake, and Conesus Lake. The smallest is Canadice Lake, at just 2.6 km², while the largest are Cayuga Lake (172.1 km²) and Seneca Lake (175.4 km²). 📍 I’ve visited three of the Finger Lakes: Cayuga, Seneca, and Skaneateles. Since I live in Ithaca 🏠, Cayuga Lake is my go-to. Stewart Park, Cass Park, and other spots cluster near the southern end. There’s a fantastic viewpoint along East Shore Drive—perfect for photos! 📸 The Cornell Sailing Club is active here 🚤, and you’ll often see people swimming 🏊♂️, sunbathing ☀️, and kayaking 🛶 when it’s warm. Skaneateles Lake 🚤 is smaller but charming. I took a one-hour boat tour with lovely views of vacation homes along the shore. It’s an ideal spot for a relaxed overnight stay 🏡. Seneca Lake 🌊 was beautiful but a bit crowded when I visited years ago. The southern end is home to the famous Watkins Glen State Park 🏞️—absolutely worth the trip! The Finger Lakes region is a true gem 💎, with multiple state parks like Taughannock Falls, Robert H. Treman, and Buttermilk Falls—all perfect for hiking, family trips, and soaking in stunning nature. 👨👩👧👦🥾 #FingerLakes #USATravel #NewYorkState #TravelCompanion #NatureLovers #HikingTheWorld
