🇦🇷 Jujuy, Argentina | Hiking Through a Rainbow
Tilcara Basecamp Edition 🏡 Why Tilcara? This adobe-charm town sits in a valley of living rainbows—no need to chase famous hills when every trail here bursts with color! My DIY hiking circuit: 🥾 Hikes Worth the Sweat 1️⃣ Pucará de Tilcara + Cerro de la Cruz Inca Fortress (12K ARS): Guided tour recommended (Spanish-only). Don’t miss: Cactus Garden 🌵 with a magical "Bell Rock" that chimes! Views of Maimará’s 7-Color Hill from the ruins. Cerro de la Cruz (20min climb): Panoramic views of Tilcara + fields of sumalagua flowers (with pea-pod fruits! 🌼). 2️⃣ Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat) 3K ARS entry: Taxi to trailhead saves energy. At 2,650m, altitude hits hard—go slow! Highlights: Basil-scented creek 🌿, narrow canyon walls, and a baby waterfall (no swimming!). 3️⃣ Quebrada de las Señoritas Bus to Uquía + 1,500 ARS foreigner fee. Sacred site rules: Offer coca leaves to Pachamama at the stone altar 🍃. Spot medicinal rica rica herbs and tri-color rock towers at the end. 4️⃣ Maimará’s Paleta del Pintor Seen from Tilcara-bound buses (right side!). Better for drone shots than hiking—colors hide on trails! 💡 Pro Tips Altitude: Chew coca leaves or sip tea! Packing: Trekking poles for rocky paths + empty bottle (fill at Tilcara’s safe taps). Skip If: Tight on time—prioritize Señoritas & Pucará! #HikeTheRainbow #AndesAlchemy
