🇦🇹 Salzburg, Austria|In the Footsteps of The Sound of Music
🔻Transport: Took a same-day round-trip train from Vienna 🚆. If you have more time, I’d highly recommend staying overnight in Salzburg. Compared to Hallstatt, I personally prefer this artsy and story-filled city 💖. We were lucky to book seats near the OBB Family Zone mini theater—a kids' play area 🧸. Austrian railways can be tricky, but this space was super cute! (Check booking preview in the image.) Later, more kids gathered around. It got noisy but in a cheerful way 😄. My little one started watching "Paw Patrol" on the iPad, and soon other kids joined in—so we made it a mini ublic screening 📱👶🏻. On the way back, we encountered a major storm in the Austrian lake region ⛈️. The train was delayed over 2 hours, and the notice came last minute—only after we were already at the station 😤. We ended up killing time at a nearby restaurant 🍝. ⚠️ Important tip: OBB sends delay/cancellation/platform change alerts only via email ✉️. This happens a lot! Make sure you use an email that you can check on your phone when booking, or you might get stuck. 🔻Salzburg Card: Around €20 per person—totally worth it! 💳 Bought it at the Salzburg train station bookstore. It includes 24-hour public transport and single entry to all attractions and museums. Don’t forget to write your name and date on the back—bus drivers may check it. 📍Mirabell Gardens Many scenes where Maria and the children sing were filmed here 🌸🎶. Walking through the garden truly feels like stepping into the movie! 📍Pferdeschwemme (Horse Pond) A cute historical spot 🐴💦. 📍Stefan Zweig Centre Behind the Salzburg theater, there’s a staircase. Climb up and you’ll find where Maria left the abbey in the movie! 🎥 (Shoutout to fellow Xiaohongshu users for the exact location 📌.) 📍Mozart's Birthplace My 3-year-old got to know Mozart 🧒🎵, while her 30-something mom went crazy buying Mozart merch in the gift shop 🎼❤️. Even though I haven’t played piano in years, I couldn’t resist buying sheet music! 📍Mozart Residence Recommend watching the movie Amadeus before visiting if you're interested 🎬🍿. 📍Cafe Mozart A Mozart-themed café 🍽️☕. We tried the Nockerl (sweet soufflé) and Mozart coffee ☕🎶. Also loved the Bierfleisch mit Nudeln (beef with broad noodles)—so tasty! 📍Cafe Tomaselli A 300-year-old café ☕🕰️, said to be Mozart’s favorite. We were in a rush but snapped a quick photo at the entrance 📸. #Salzburg #SoundOfMusic #Mozart #Austria 🎶🏰✨
