🇦🇹 Vienna, Austria: Complete Guide to Food, Stay & Transport 📖
📍 1. Pre-Trip Essentials: European plug adapter + power strip Slippers (not provided by hotels) Toothbrush & toothpaste (not provided) SIM card (buy via Taobao; Vodafone or O2 recommended; restart if connection drops; PIN required each time — take a photo of the card) Cash: €300 in small bills for 2 people (exchange at Bank of China) + Visa card Neck pillow, eye mask Sunglasses, umbrella, wet wipes, skincare, etc. 🚖 2. City Transport: Download the ÖBB app. We bought a 7-day pass (~€17) for unlimited travel in central Vienna (metro, trains, etc.). Airport transfer: Buy a separate ticket from Schwechat to Flughafen Wien (€2). The pass doesn’t cover this — fines can exceed €100! Ticket validation: E-tickets and QR code paper tickets don’t need validation. Non-QR paper tickets must be stamped at blue machines at stations. 🚖 3. Intercity Travel: Book via ÖBB: Vienna → St. Wolfgang ~€61/person (4.5h by train + bus). 🏠 4. Accommodation: Vienna is compact — stay near a metro station. In St. Wolfgang: Lefay Family Apartment — cozy, great lake views, good value. 🍚 5. Food: 🍕 Main meals: Try Wiener Schnitzel, beef goulash. Highly recommend Fiorino — garlic pork ribs are amazing! Huge portions — we ate there twice. ~€40/meal. Must-order: Garlic ribs (comes with bread/salad), creamy pasta, drinks, beer. ☕ Afternoon tea: Demel: Hot chocolate, coffee, coffee mousse, and Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake) — all delicious! 😎 6. Attractions: City Hall Square: Free, peaceful, perfect for relaxing in the park. Kunsthistorisches Museum: Book online; Chinese audio guide €8 for two. Vienna State Opera: Book seated tickets online; standing tickets sold onsite from 16:30 on performance day (€13/15/18). St. Wolfgang: Worth the trip! Take the cogwheel train up for stunning lake views. Others: St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Karlskirche, National Library, Schönbrunn Palace, Belvedere Palace, etc. 🎁 7. Souvenirs: Fridge magnets, DM skincare/hand cream/effervescent tablets, Manner wafers (hazelnut recommended; coconut is too sweet), assorted chocolates. #ViennaTravel #Austria #TravelTips #EuropeGuide #SoloTravel #FoodieAdventure
