🇦🇺 16/08/2024 Exploring Nature's Nighttime Wonders
📍Walshs Pyramid 📍Cathedral Fig Tree 📍Tinaroo Lake 📍Bonadio RV and Nature Park My first night tour in Cairns! 🌌 First stop: Walshs Pyramid 🏔️ This iconic pyramid-shaped mountain looked stunning against golden sugarcane fields under the sunset—every shot looked like a movie poster! 🎬 Our guide shared that they hold an annual pyramid race here, with a $1000 prize for the winner! 💰 Second stop: Cathedral Fig Tree 🌳 A 500-year-old strangler fig showcasing nature's raw power—witnessing its symbiotic yet deadly growth process was humbling. Pure rainforest magic! ✨ Third stop: Tinaroo Lake (Atherton Tablelands) 🌊 Named from Indigenous language, this serene lake is a local favorite for weekend fishing 🎣, speedboating 🚤, and sunset views. The golden hour here was unreal! 🌇 Final stop: Private Wildlife Sanctuary 🦆 We quietly waited by the riverbank to spot the elusive platypus—they only surface for 5-10 seconds to breathe before diving back to hunt using electroreception! So rare and fascinating. BBQ Dinner + Wildlife Encounters! 🍖 Grilled feast under the stars while feeding possums with bananas 🍌. Even spotted a wallaby with her joey! 🦘 (They munched louder than we did, lol.) 🌕 The only downside? A super bright moon hid the Milky Way... but the starry sky (zero light pollution!) still left us in awe. 🌠 This tour was a wildlife lover's dream—so many unique Aussie species! Next time: cassowaries and blue fireflies! 🔥 #AustraliaTravel #CairnsNightTour #WildlifeAdventure #PlatypusMagic #OutbackAustralia
