🇦🇺 Solo Adventure in Australia: Cairns to Melbourne
In June 2023, I spent a month exploring Australia solo—from the Great Barrier Reef to Melbourne’s artsy laneways. Here’s my unfiltered take! 🌴 Cairns Highlights 1️⃣ Great Barrier Reef (Divers Den) – Their liveaboard dive trip is a MUST for serious divers! 🤿 2️⃣ Fitzroy Island – Beautiful but scorching hot 🥵 (pack extra water!). 3️⃣ Cape Tribulation & Atherton Tablelands – Swim in natural pools + spot wild cassowaries! 🦋 🏝️ Magnetic Island The Forts Walk (2hr hike with WWII ruins + koalas!) Sunset at Hawkings Point – Unreal views! 💎 Whitsundays (AVOID THIS MISTAKE!) 🚫 Overnight tours (e.g., Avatar) – Rusty boats, bad food, shared beds with strangers 😱 ✅ Day trips only! Whitehaven Beach = heaven on Earth. 🐨 Brisbane Lone Pine Sanctuary – Cuddle koalas + feed kangaroos! 🦘 Free sunset river cruise – Perfect for solo travelers 🚢 Botanical Gardens – Ideal picnic spot 💐 🌊 Sydney Blue Mountains at sunset – Like walking through a painting! 🖼️ Bondi to Coogee Walk – Stop at the iconic ocean pool ($9 well spent!) Manly’s Fairfax Track – Secret coastal hike 🥾 ☕ Melbourne Puffing Billy Railway – Overrated (freezing in winter ❄️). Penguin Parade – Cute but dress like an Eskimo! 🐧 Melbourne Now Gallery – Death VR experience = mind-blowing! 💀 #SoloTravelAustralia #BackpackerLife #GreatBarrierReef
