🇦🇺 A Girl’s Solo Adventure in Cairns | Travel Guide + Honest Tips
My first solo trip abroad—and I felt so brave! 🧳 Met kind souls, saw breathtaking views, and tried unique experiences (though not without hiccups!). Sharing my real talk for fellow solo travelers~ 🔖 DAY 1️⃣: Exploring the City Flew in from Melbourne, napped, then wandered downtown. Ate delicious Vietnamese pho & La Pizza 🤤. ⚠️ Avoid: Late-afternoon beach visits—low tide leaves it bare and muddy! 🔖 DAY 2️⃣: Magic Reef Day Trip! (The Highlight!) 1.5hr boat ride (🚨 Take seasickness pills!!!). Period Day 2? No problem! Painkillers + tampons = snorkeling success 🤿. Coral reefs + fish swarms = magical. Helicopter tour canceled due to clouds (super common—book flexibly!). 🍽️ Bonus: Decent onboard buffet + activities. 🔖 DAY 3️⃣: Skydiving Dreams… Dashed? Mission Beach jump canceled (clouds again 😭). Pivoted to city skydiving—still cloudy but thrilling! Palm Cove 🌴: Bus-accessible but gloomy weather = sad beach vibes. ⚠️ Truth: Cairns skydiving is weather-lottery—always have a backup plan! 🔖 DAY 4️⃣: Aquarium + Rusty’s Market Rain ruined rainforest plans ☔→ Cairns Aquarium ($$$ but surprisingly cool! Student discounts help.). Rusty’s Market (Fri-Sun only!): Yellow dragon fruit! Fresh juices! Felt like a local in my Crocs 😂. ✨ Final Thoughts No helicopter, no dream skydive, no rainforest… and my period tagged along. But—these "failures" made my trip raw and real. Cairns, you taught me to embrace the unplanned!
