Day 1: City Walk πΆββοΈ Hotels in the city are convenient and comfortable! Spend the afternoon exploring the Cairns Aquarium, the stunning lagoon pool πββοΈ, and wandering around. After 4:30 PM, head to the Night Market for snacks π’ β though options are limited, you can always grab a proper meal at a restaurant nearby π. Day 2: Great Barrier Reef Day Trip π π Book a day tour through a local agency or online platforms β local deals are often cheaper! π° Donβt forget motion sickness pills π A 10-minute helicopter ride π offers great value and breathtaking views! Book early in peak season. Choose a cruise that fits your preferences β lunch, GoPro rental (bring your own if you want to save), and snorkeling gear are usually included π€Ώ (bring your own if hygiene is a concern). Sign up onboard for diving if interested! Bring a towel and change of clothes β it gets chilly after snorkeling π Snorkeling is incredibly fun (just be prepared for super salty water! π) Day 3: Kuranda Rainforest π³ Take the scenic Skyrail cable car π‘ or historic railway π The 45-min cable car was a bit boring for me, but the Kuranda Village has cute local markets ποΈ Try Fruibies β their drinks are amazing! π₯€ Not many food options β bring some snacks πΏ The Army Duck amphibious tour was a highlight! Fun commentary about the rainforest. Also enjoyed boomerang throwing πͺ and Indigenous performances πͺ The scenic train ride back offered gorgeous views! You can cuddle a koala π¨ β $36 for a photo (lasts less than a minute π) The wildlife park has other adorable animals too! Dinner at Prawn Star π¦ β super fresh seafood, but served quite raw. Not for everyone! Day 4: Palm Cove Beach ποΈ Absolutely paradise! So relaxing to lie by the sea and sunbathe all day βοΈ 20km from the city β take Bus 110 or a taxi (~$40 π) Perfect for coastal walks and photos π· β total vacation vibes! If you have time, staying here 1-2 nights is highly recommended π Cairns is a unique travel destination β perfect for a 3-4 day getaway!
