🇦🇺 Cairns Getaway: Ultimate Chill & Reef Experience

We had a 3-day, 3-night super relaxed trip—no rush, just pure unwind mode. 😎 ✈️ Arrived at 10 PM via Melbourne → Cairns (7 PM flight) 🏨 Stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton – around $200/night Only 10 mins from the airport, and 15 mins walk to the marina next morning. Day 1: Sunlover Reef Cruise 🚢 Booked the Sunlover Reef Cruise – under $250 per person, includes a 10-min helicopter flight! 🚁 Totally worth it! The boat offers many free activities: Glass-bottom boat tour Semi-submarine Snorkeling 🐠 The glass-bottom boat was amazing—you can see the corals very clearly! There are also paid activities like diving—check their brochure for details. If you don’t want to snorkel, just line up for the glass-bottom or semi-submarine (schedule on the whiteboard). If you booked the helicopter ride, report to the crew as soon as you board—they’ll schedule your time. Snorkeling gear is provided, but bring your swimsuit and towel! You can change into a stinger suit on the boat. ⏰ Departs 9:45 AM, returns around 4 PM. The boat is big and stable—not too rocky, even for those who get seasick easily. Day 2: Palm Cove 🌴 Woke up naturally, then headed to Palm Cove. Called a taxi as it looked like rain—30-min ride. 🍽️ Had lunch at NUNU Restaurant – chicken wings were tasty! ~$50 per person. Sat outdoors right beside palm trees and the ocean—super chill! 🌊 After lunch, walked along the coast to the bus stop and took Bus 101 back. Only $1 for two people with card—such a steal! (Way cheaper than a taxi 😅) Spent 1-2 hours there. Gorgeous on a sunny day, a bit plain when cloudy—but the sound of waves made it all worthwhile. Day 3: Cairns Aquarium 🐢 Right across from our hotel—super convenient! Adults $58, Students $46 A cool experience with an underwater tunnel—saw sharks, turtles, and more 🦈 Took about 1 hour to explore (including a turtle talk session). Picked up our luggage and headed to the airport right after. 🧳✈️ This was the perfect slow-paced trip. We thought about doing the rainforest tour but ended up choosing Palm Cove instead—no regrets! Sometimes all you need is the ocean and a palm tree. 🌴💙 #CairnsTravel #CairnsGuide #ExploreAustralia #AustraliaTravel #GreatBarrierReef #Snorkeling #TravelAustralia #SlowTravel
