🇦🇺 Cairns is seriously SO family-friendly!
We flew with Jetstar from Sydney to Cairns ✈️ and paid $75 at the counter for a 30kg luggage allowance. Staying on the main street is highly recommended—everything from restaurants to the port is within easy reach 🏙️. The Southeast Asian places we tried were all delicious and really hit the spot 🍜. The waterfront restaurants are a bit pricier, but the atmosphere and views make it totally worth it 🌊. There’s a cool spot by the sea called Muddy’s 🍔—their classic burger and the fish & chips from the kids' menu are a big hit! Highly recommend for families 👶. For day trips, we booked the Sunlover Reef Cruise 🚢 and the Kuranda Rainforest tour 🌿—both were awesome! Sunlover includes a buffet lunch—nothing fancy but decent 🍽️. For kids who aren’t into snorkeling, the glass-bottom boat and semi-submarine are great alternatives 👍. The amphibious Army Duck tour in Kuranda was a blast! The guide was super engaging and interactive—the kids absolutely loved it! 🦆 The Aboriginal dance performance was also a hit. We did a koala photo op too—$41 for one adult and one child 🐨, though the cuddle time was less than a minute…a bit pricey, but still cute 😅. Right in the city center, there’s an amazing kids' play area called the Lagoon 🏖️—packed with climbing frames, slides, ziplines, and sand play. Perfect for burning off energy! If you’re staying downtown, it’s super convenient to swing by morning or evening. There’s also a swimming pool and an artificial beach nearby—so much fun! 🌞 Plus, there are free public BBQ facilities along the shore. Grab some ingredients from Coles or Woolworths and enjoy a chill barbecue by the sea 🍢. All in all—Cairns is totally worth a second trip with the family! 💙👨👩👧👦 #FamilyTravel #KidsFriendly #Cairns #KurandaRainforest #GreatBarrierReef #SunloverCruise #AustraliaTravel #FamilyTripAU
