π¦πΊ Gold Coast Day 1 [Travel Diary + Tips]
Just finished A-levels and finally on my dream trip! Though short (4-7 July), itβs been packed with fun! π¨ Accommodation Mantra on View β $120/night (for 3 pax) π Transport Walked, took buses/trams (no rental car since none of us drive π«π) π Day 1 Itinerary 1οΈβ£ Surfers Paradise Beach πββοΈ Pre-half-marathon jog + strides (race prep!) 2οΈβ£ Gold Coast Expo Centre π½ Picked up my race kit + bought Maurten gels (forgot my usual Honey Stingers π ) 3οΈβ£ O Bagel (5-min walk from Expo) π₯― Classic Lox Bagel for carb-loading! (Next time trying Drop the Beef!) 4οΈβ£ Coles + Beach Stroll + Nap π More carbs (bread!) β chilled by the sea β power nap at hotel π€ 5οΈβ£ Dinner @ Vapino Italian π₯ Waited 1 hour (lesson learned: BOOK AHEAD!). π Ordered Pomodoro Fettucine (too acidic) + stole bites of parentsβ Margherita Pizza (too hard). Not amazing, but good for pre-race carbs! 6οΈβ£ Messina Gelato π¦ Another 30-min queue (worth it for pre-race ice cream!). My pick: Mango + Lemon Sorbet (tangy & refreshing!) Momβs pick: Nicky Glasses (rum + chocolate β bitter-sweet!) π First Impressions π¦πΊ Aussies = friendly & chill (vs. Singaporeβs stress vibes). ποΈ Gold Coast = active & clean (rare smokers, minimal litter!). β³ "Slow service" culture (relaxing butβ¦ be ready to queue! π). Next up: Race day! πββοΈπ¨ #GoldCoast #TravelDiary #Australia #HalfMarathon #Foodie #CarbLoading #MessinaGelato #SurfersParadise π΄π
