On Christmas Day when everything was closed, we planned a relaxing coastal day trip ποΈ β and it was the perfect chance to try Melbourneβs regional train, the V/Line π. Geelong, just 1οΈβ£ hour from Melbourne by train, turned out to be the ideal destination! And guess what β on December 25th, all Melbourne public transport was FREE π. The V/Line gates were wide open β no tickets needed. Saved $20 per person! ππ π How to Get There: π By V/Line Train: From Southern Cross Station β Geelong Station β 15-min walk to Geelong Waterfront π By Car: Only ~1h 15min from the inner east. Easy parking near π§ Cunningham Pier (lots of spaces!). πΊοΈ Must-Visit Spots: π Cunningham Pier Iconic pier with colorful painted bollards β so fun and photogenic! π Eastern Beach Home to the ferris wheel π‘, colorful ice cream trucks π¦ β giving major California vibes! π€ Geelong Waterfront / Fountain White fountain β², floating Christmas tree π, palm-lined promenade β summer Christmas magic! π Geelong Gallery A small but lovely art gallery with paintings and ceramics.
