🇦🇺 Solo Day Trip to Geelong (Car-Free & Honest Review!)
Took advantage of a sunny Monday to finally visit Geelong—and it was pure bliss! As a solo traveler, here’s my unfiltered guide: 🚆 Getting There V/Line train from Southern Cross Station (every 20 mins, no planning needed—perfect for P-types!). 🌊 Why Geelong? Compared to Port Melbourne (too plain) or St Kilda (too touristy), Geelong’s Eastern Beach strikes the right balance: commercial but still local. Think: 🐕 Dog walkers, laughter, and zero rush. 💖 Must-Dos 1️⃣ Giant Sky Wheel 🎡 Views = chef’s kiss! Worth every cent. 2️⃣ Carousel by the Sea 🎠 Yes, it’s full of kids—but riding solo with ocean views is oddly romantic. 3️⃣ Beach Swing 🌊 Near the carousel (not the kiddie one!). Soaring over the water = therapy. 4️⃣ Souvenirs 🎭 Wooden bollard keychain from the Wool Museum (couldn’t find the giant versions 😅). ⚡ Avoid! Sailor’s Rest & Wharf Shed: Overpriced, pre-made food, mediocre drinks. Skip! 😆 Funny Finds One bollard looks exactly like my high school math teacher. ✏️ OOTD shot on the train (walls = best tripod!). Verdict: A solo-friendly, healing escape. Geelong, I’ll be back! 💙 #Geelong #SoloTravel #MelbourneDayTrip #NoCarNoProblem
