🇦🇺 Ultimate Cairns Guide: Snorkeling + Rainforest + City Walk 🌿🐠

Just got back from an amazing trip! Sharing our route: Melbourne → Cairns → Sydney Let’s start with my favorite — Cairns! 💙 👗 Clothing: Weather was perfect! ☀️ Mornings/evenings slightly cool (bring a light wrap or jacket), but it feels like summer once the sun is out. 🗺️ Itinerary: Day 1: Arrival & City Exploration 12:00 PM: Landed at Cairns Airport 🏊 Cairns Esplanade Lagoon: Beautiful public pool by the sea — perfect for a refreshing dip! (Loved seeing birds strolling around in the evening — so unique 🦢) 🌴 Took Bus 110 to Palm Cove (Accepts Visa/cash 💳) 🦟 Night Market: Fun vibe! Beef noodles were tasty, but Vietnamese Pho was too salty 😅 🌟 Must do: Watch the sunset at Palm Cove 🌅 — super romantic with nearby restaurants, bars, and boutique shops! Day 2: Sunlover Reef Cruise — Moore Reef + Fitzroy Island Booked a snorkeling day trip — highly recommend! 🤿 So much to share… will do a separate detailed post! 📸 Day 3: Kuranda Rainforest Took the Skyrail 🚡 up + Scenic Railway 🚞 down + Rainforest tour. Verdict: It was okay — not a must-do, but still enjoyable. 💡 Tip: Book a day tour — cheaper and easier than arranging transport/tickets yourself! Army Duck Tour: Mediocre, but the guide made it interesting (some technical terms were hard to understand). Aboriginal Dance: Energetic and culturally rich! 💃 ⚠️ Avoid: Thai Kai Cafe & Rainforest Restaurant — flies everywhere 🪰😣 🏨 Accommodation: Pacific Hotel — highly recommended! 📍 Super close to Night Market & ferry terminal (2-3 mins walk 👟) 👨‍💼 Staff were lovely — upgraded our room for free! ☕️ Breakfast was simple (toast, cereal, coffee) 🛏️ Note: Blankets are thin fleece throws — might need extra layers if you feel cold! 🍽️ Food Reviews: Yama Zaru Izakaya (Japanese): Average. Villa Romana (Italian): A bit salty, but the Spaghetti Allo Scoglio and Seafood Tigani were decent! 🍝 🛒 Woolworths: Great for snacks, fruits, and quick meals! 💡 Extra Tips: 🚖 Uber Pickup: Use the official “Uber Pickup” zone at the airport. ⏰ Kuranda & snorkeling trips start early — recommend resting on Day 1 before joining tours! 🗓️ 3-4 days is ideal for Cairns. It’s a walkable city — explore by bus or on foot!
