🇧🇷 Barbecue of seafood
Kakurega is a niche restaurant in São Paulo. Opened just within the past year, it’s still relatively unknown 😜. Its location is decent, situated on a street behind Paulista Avenue. However, there’s no valet service, and you can’t park on the roadside 🅿️. You’ll have to park across the street instead. The restaurant has two floors. The upper floor offers 60 tables, providing a very spacious dining environment. The chefs and waitstaff are extremely friendly, offering detailed explanations. You can feel the pleasant and relaxed atmosphere when chatting with them 😊. The head chef, in particular, seems constantly busy, handling both the omakase preparations and other ordered dishes. As always, I went there specifically to try the Omakase. At the beginning, the chef casually asked, “Are you hungry?” We jokingly replied, “Very hungry!” Little did we know we’d leave with our stomachs stuffed to the brim! 🤩 The first dish was Serra wrapped in cucumber, which was refreshing. The second dish was a sashimi platter, including lean bluefin tuna, chu - toro (medium - fatty tuna), Carapau (the skipjack here has excellent texture), and Buri (amberjack). The Buri, while huge in portion, was less distinctive compared to the others. The third dish was another highlight. With rice at the base, it was topped with sea urchin and various fish roes. In other restaurants, a dish like this would easily cost 100 - 200 reais, and the combined flavors were amazing. 😋 After these three appetizers came a series of sushi. First up was a giant hand - roll, filled to the brim, which left me stunned 😲. The combination of warm rice and raw fish had an unexpectedly great texture. Later, there were Carapau, chu - toro and o - toro (fatty tuna) sushi. They melted in my mouth! There were also imported scallop and eel sushi. When the eel sushi was served, I thought the omakase was coming to an end, but then the chef served more—sushi with sea urchin, sea urchin stomach, and bluefin tuna with fish roes. After that, he even said we could choose one more sushi dish. I was already full but still chose a pure sea urchin sushi without adding rice. The subsequent hot dishes included seafood tempura and steamed egg custard. The steamed egg custard came in a huge bowl, with an incredibly large portion. I just scooped out the seafood in the middle. For dessert 🍨, the ice cream was delicious, but the green apple underneath was just so - so. 🔥 The portions here are extremely generous. 🔥 The cost - performance is incredibly high. 🔥 They offer a wide variety of fresh fish and seafood, with excellent combinations. It’s best to make a reservation via Zap for Omakase. The restaurant serves both lunch and dinner, but there’s no delivery service. The dining environment is bright and spacious. Average cost per person: R$490. The value for money when ordering is also very high. #SaoPauloBrazil #SaoPauloFoodExploration #JapaneseCuisineExploration #Sashimi #ImmersiveJapaneseFood #HiddenGemRestaurant #Omakase #RestaurantRecommendation
