🇨🇦 $27 Indian Food Kicks Off Summerlicious with a Bang!
The two-week Summerlicious 2025 is quietly here again! Running from July 4 to July 20, this year’s first stop was an Indian restaurant in CF Shops @ Don Mills (North York). Since it’s a bit niche and we went for lunch, no reservations were needed—just walked right in! As usual, it’s the classic 3-course meal (appetizer, main, dessert). Between the two of us, we tried 6 dishes: 🍗 CHILI CHICKEN BAO (3.5/5) Who knew a Taiwanese bao, Korean fried chicken, and Indian spices could fuse so well? The chicken had a strong BBQ flavor, paired with a soft bao—weird but delicious! 🦑 CALAMARI 65 (4/5) Fried calamari is usually an Italian appetizer, but here it’s served with a spicy masala dip—totally unique! 🐑 LAMB ROGANJOSH BOWL (3.5/5) The lamb was packed with cumin and spices (no gaminess!), though slightly overcooked. But the fragrant spices + fluffy basmati rice made it an easy finish! 🐔 BUTTER CHICKEN RICE BOWL (4.5/5) A must-order classic—creamy, slightly sweet (caramelized onions!) with a hint of spice. The chicken was perfectly tender. Pro tip: Both rice bowls come with naan (butter/garlic/plain) and cucumber salad—the ultimate combo for dipping! 🍰 RASMALAI TIRAMISU (4/5) This was… an experience. Rasmalai (Indian milk-soaked cheese balls) meets tiramisu? Surprisingly harmonious—moist cake layers soaked in spiced almond milk. We were skeptical but finished every bite! 🍫 CHOCOLATE BROWNIE (2/5) Avoid. Cloyingly sweet—we each took one bite and gave up. (Blame the sold-out cheesecake for this tragic choice.)
