Hey everyone, your ex-food editor is back! 🍽️ Just sharing some recent eats—remember, these are personal experiences. Taste is subjective, so no hate please! 🙇♀️ 1️⃣ Zhi Wei Xuan A small spot in DT. Simple menu: mostly Northeastern + some Sichuan dishes. Everything was decent, but their Guo Bao Rou (sweet & sour pork) is THE BEST in Winnipeg! Crispy, not greasy 👌🌶️. Spicy chicken was good too, but the big plate chicken was a miss. Still, worth a try! 2️⃣ Song Zhu Lou Their roasted duck skin ❤️❤️❤️ and roasted duck 🔥 are sooo good! They’re moving soon, so get your takeout while you still can 🦆😭 3️⃣ Nonsuch Brewing Co. Beautiful restaurant 🍻! Their burger was incredibly juicy—beats any chain. Highly recommend! Steak was also tender and flavourful. Book in advance—that 4.8 Google rating is no joke 🤩 4️⃣ Hy’s Steakhouse Just okay imo. Good service and nice table-side experience, but the food was average. Beef Wellington was tender, but the pastry was underwhelming. Go for the ambiance 🕯️. 5️⃣ Tony Roma’s Very American-style bar 🍗. Mostly locals. Chicken wings were crispy and tender but under-seasoned. Ribs were alright, not as good as Montana’s. Steak was forgettable. 6️⃣ Indian Food Corner This place has lines till 11 pm! Had to see what the hype was about. Overall pretty good—naan was fragrant, curry was rich, butter chicken went perfect with rice. And my stomach survived—highest praise! 😂🇮🇳 7️⃣ Chilli Chutney Rated 4.7 on Google. Even ran into an Indian classmate there—so probably authentic? Curries all tasted similar. They have a lunch buffet! But the chai was weak and tasteless 😒. 8️⃣ T.H. Dang (Green House) Ordered all the popular dishes. Tasty at the time, but crazy thirsty after. Drink lots of water! 💧🍲 9️⃣ Hoi Shang Seafood Restaurant The white-cut chicken was tender 👍. Salted egg shrimp was flavourful 🍤, curry brisket was mild, and the fish in chili oil wasn’t very spicy. Close to home—good for casual meals. 🔟 Sun Wing Fat Praising their ironplate eggplant forever!! 🍆💯 Curry brisket was huge and aromatic. Salted shrimp was a bit salty but still delicious. A no-fail spot. Wish they opened for lunch! 1️⃣1️⃣ New Wong Kok Huge menu. Singapore noodles were wok-heavy and generous portion. Loved the tripe and chicken feet 👏. Other dishes were average. Good when you can’t decide what to eat. 1️⃣2️⃣ Han Ji Their famous stir-fried pork was just okay to me—not as good as chain brands in China. But their lunch specials are crazy affordable! Another great canteen option. #Winnipeg #Foodie #Canada #EatLocal #FoodReview
