🇨🇦 Gastown Vancouver | L'Abattoir French Cuisine
After binge-watching food shows that made this foodie crave some fine dining, I finally settled on an accessible French gem - L'Abattoir! Nestled right in the heart of Gastown, this place has been a Michelin Recommended spot since 2022. The exposed beams and brick walls give it such a moody, romantic vibe—perfect for date night or treating yourself! 💫 Here are the must-try dishes we devoured: 🥩 Steak Tartare (Chutoro, fried shiso, oyster dressing) – Silky, tender, with a light yet flavorful kick from the shiso and oyster dressing. A refreshing take on tartare! 🦪 Baked Pacific Oysters (Whipped garlic butter, black truffle) – OMG, these were divine! Plump oysters topped with golden garlic butter and just a whisper of truffle. Rich but not heavy—pure perfection. 🦆 Terrine of Duck Foie Gras (Blueberry, wine jelly, toasted brioche) – Ultra-smooth foie gras paired with sweet blueberry jelly and buttery brioche. Delicious… but low-key felt like I could DIY this at home with Whole Foods ingredients? 😅 🐙 Barbecued Octopus (Corn, cucumber, salsa macha) – Charred to perfection! Tender inside, crispy outside, with sweet corn and a spicy salsa macha kick. A total texture and flavor bomb. 🐟 Tandoori Style Sablefish (Dungeness crab, tomato concassé, vadouvan) – The fish was cooked beautifully, flaky and crisp, but the Indian vadouvan spice was a bit polarizing. If you’re not into bold spices, maybe skip this one! Honorable Mention: Their wine list is chef’s kiss—ask for pairing recommendations! 🍷 What’s your take? Would you brave the tandoori sablefish, or are you all about that foie gras life? Drop your thoughts below! 👇 #VancouverEats #FrenchCuisine #GastownVibes #MichelinDining #FoodieHeaven #DateNightSpot
