🇨🇦 After many trips to Vancouver, here’s my travel advice…
☀️ Be sure to pick a sunny day and spend it walking around Stanley Park. This is where the essence of Vancouver truly comes to life. And when I say "around", I mean it literally—walk the full seawall loop. Stanley Park is a peninsula extending into Burrard Inlet, right next to downtown. You can take the SkyTrain 🚇 to Vancouver City Center Station, then walk about 2 km to the park entrance. I recommend going counter-clockwise. The full loop is about 9 km — roughly 3 hours at a relaxed pace 🚶♂️, or 4-5 hours if you stop for snacks, photos, or just to take it all in. (Bring your own water and maybe a picnic! 🥪💧) I usually start around 10 or 11 AM after breakfast and finish by 4 or 5 PM. Along the way, you’ll experience: 🌆 Skyline views of downtown 🏔️ Distant views of North Vancouver 🌉 Close-up views of Lions Gate Bridge 🌊 Open ocean vistas 🏖️ Quiet beach stretches 🌇 Return to the city as the lights begin to glow It’s a truly calming and uplifting experience. There’s also the Vancouver Aquarium 🐠 inside the park — great for a visit if you have time (see last photo). 🏨 Where to Stay: For convenience: Stay downtown — easy access to everything. For foodies: Stay in Richmond — incredible concentration of Chinese food 🥢, especially Cantonese. Think dim sum, noodle shops, bakeries, night markets… everything! Note: Richmond is about 1 hour by SkyTrain from downtown. ✈️ Getting from the Airport: YVR Airport is well connected by SkyTrain to both downtown and Richmond. 🚇 Getting Around: Both downtown and Richmond are very walkable and well-served by SkyTrain. 🌟 Other Not-to-Miss Spots: Capilano Suspension Bridge Park — unique and thrilling 🌲 Canada Place — especially at blue hour with pink sunsets 🌄 Science World and BC Place — blend of modern architecture and nature 🏟️ Granville Island — artsy vibe like Beijing’s 798, with cute painted buildings 🎨 Gastown & the Steam Clock — classic tourist spot ⏰ Marine Building & Vancouver Art Gallery — beautiful architecture 🏛️ In short: Vancouver’s biggest draws are its natural beauty 🏞️ and unbeatable Chinese food (especially Cantonese). That’s what makes a trip here special.
