🇨🇦 Halifax Seafood Foraging Guide: Mussels & Soft-Shell Clams in
Sharing my recent seafood foraging experience in Halifax! 🦪🌊 Day 2: Rainbow Heaven Beach 🏖️ Started at the main beach with soft, fine sand. While others sunbathed, my kids were all about foraging! 😄 Initially found nothing, but then we moved to a smaller cove and discovered: 🔸 A few soft-shell clams (left from yesterday)—used to feed seagulls 🕊️ 🔸 Pretty little seashells 🐚 🔸 Several crabs 🦀 (released since they can’t be taken home) Just as we were about to leave, we stumbled upon a hidden spot near a foot-washing area—filled with MUSSELS! 🎣 We gathered almost half a bucket in less than 30 minutes—just by bending and picking! 🪣 Day 1: Fisherman’s Cove 🦞 Drove straight from St. John and arrived at low tide—perfect timing! This was the kids’ first foraging trip. Inspired by a French blogger’s tips, we: 🔹 Looked for small holes in the sand 🔹 Dug up soft-shell clams (some call them "geoducks" 🐚) In no time, we collected half a bucket! 🪣 After dinner, we visited Dingle Park Fishing Pier 🎣. Checked the tide app ("Tides Nearby") and confirmed it was high tide—water was rising! 🌊 Pro tip: Always check tide schedules and go during LOW tide! Next stop: Prince Edward Island (PEI) for more foraging fun! 🦀🐚 PEI seafood, here we come! 🚗💨 #Halifax #SeafoodForaging #ForagingTips #Mussels #Clams #FamilyAdventure #ExploreCanada 🌊🦀🐚
