šØš¦ Richmond, Vancouver One-Day Guide š¢ Fishermanās Wharf
Hey everyone~ Itās Yiru here, coming at you with sometime! By a twist of fate, I ended up staying in Richmond this time. And it got me thinkingāwhy do so many Chinese people choose to live here? With this question in mind šāāļø, I set out to explore~ As an open, inclusive, and multicultural international city, Richmond has a Chinese population (including those of Chinese descent) that makes up more than half of its residents. Itās said to be one of the cities with the highest concentration of Chinese people in North America. This seaside community is rich with Asian culture, home to some of the longest-living Canadians per capita, and packed with Chinese supermarkets. You can see a earnest love of life written on peopleās faces here. Hereās a one-day itinerary for Richmond, Vancouver šØš¦ ā¬ļø Perfect for those who love laid-back exploring and eating! 1ļøā£ Fishermanās Wharf is a must. You can find fresh, plump salmon and spot prawns here. With eagles and seals circling overhead, the sea breeze brushing by, and the sunset glowing, strolling along the coastline and checking out the boutique shops is pure bliss š¦š . In spring and autumn, you can even take boat tours to spot orcas! Itās said that in summer, the seafood here is even cheaper, fresher, and more abundant. 2ļøā£ Richmond Public Market. Youāll find everything here: railway bento boxes, Taiwanese beef noodle soup, Cantonese cheung fun, Hong Kong-style three-item rice plates, Vietnamese vermicelli, and bubble tea⦠The best part? The prices are great. It feels like stepping into a vibrant, Hong Kong-style food hallāfull of life and energy š„¢š. 3ļøā£ Richmond Centre and Aberdeen Centre. The first has almost all the big brands you could need. The second will make you feel like youāve teleported back to Asiaāespecially during Lunar New Year, the atmosphere is incredible š®. As a mall thatās been around for almost 30 years, its design might not be the trendiest, but it has deeply shaped Chinese life in the Greater Vancouver area. š You can reach all these spots by SkyTrain, bus, car, or Uberāperfect for a relaxed day out. š„¢ The dim sum blew me away~ I never expected to find such a parallel universe far from home. The dim sum here is just as good as what youād find in the Bay Areaāmaybe even better! And theyāve added creative twists to classic dishes. For example, Fortune Terrace in Richmond served delicious dish after dish. Shoutout to the chefs here š©š³! š„§ Thai-style chicken feet were innovative, the lava custard buns were cute and authentic, the black truffle lobster cheung fun was elevated with that truffle kick, the tangerine-peel beef balls were uniquely flavorful, and the beef tendon was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Through food, you can tellāthe Chinese community here is thriving. No need to worry about their stomachs š. This trip to Vancouver unexpectedly brought the first snow of winter āļø. Suddenly the whole city turned into a white fairy taleāeverything covered in silver. Adults were busy shoveling snow, while kids were having the time of their lives building snowmen āļø. It was a whole different kind of magic. Tomorrowās my last day in šØš¦, and Iām getting ready to head home. Iām already missing Guangzhouās white-cut chickenāgonna feast as soon as Iām back! But I know years from now, Iāll still remember this special winter ā¤ļø. #ExploreCanada #Vancouver #VancouverLife #VancouverFood #VancouverDiscoveries #RichmondBC #RichmondLife #RichmondFood
