🇨🇦 The German pork knuckle set in Waterloo is absolutely massive! 😱
Continuing to share the food from my trip to Waterloo… That night, my friend took us to this must-try German pork knuckle restaurant – the name is in Figure 5. They clearly told us we’d definitely not finish it and would have to take leftovers, but we still ordered a set meal around $78. Why? Because it lets you taste 4 different pork dishes at once: pork knuckle, pig’s tail, ribs, and sausage! 🐷 There’s also a huge plate of slaw, sauerkraut, corn, and two types of potatoes. Those three knives on the table were like a trio of axes – totally ing! 😲 The pork skin was crispy yet tender, and the meat was full of flavor. For some reason, it reminded me of Chinese salted pork. Each of the four pork types had a different taste. Personally, I loved the pig’s tail the most – it’s my favorite sweet flavor! 💕 In the end, the three of us took home more than half of it. My partner and I even had two full meals with the leftovers when we got back. You can imagine how gigantic the portion was! 😦 Right behind the restaurant is a small motel. This old-school setup instantly took me back to memories of Germany over 10 years ago. Honestly, the food was delicious, but it felt like it was missing a little something compared to my past memories. But that was over a decade ago, and people tend to unconsciously beautify memories, right? Actually, being able to meet new friends we get along with, travel, eat, drink, and laugh together in the moment – that’s real happiness. 😊 If you go- 📍The Olde Heidelberg Restaurant Tavern 3006 Lobsinger Line, Heidelberg, ON N0B 2M0 #TorontoLife #TorontoFood #TorontoFoodie #TorontoSurroundings #TorontoDayTrips #UniversityOfWaterloo #PorkKnuckleRice #GermanPorkHock
