🇨🇦 This French Bistro in Vancouver is So Interesting! ✨

Had dinner here last night, and today I looked up what its French name actually means—so fun! "Les Faux Bourgeois Bistro" translates to "The Fake Middle-Class Bistro." It’s not a fancy French restaurant for the wealthy, but a place where ordinary people can enjoy French atmosphere… or maybe it’s poking fun at that "trying-to-look-elegant middle-class" lifestyle. 😄 And that totally matches the vibe I felt—not super fancy, but delicious and still refined. 🥣 French Onion Soup: A classic with a sweet surprise! The soup is richly sweet from deeply caramelized onions, served with toast, bacon, and a thick layer of cheese. So comforting and flavorful—especially when hot! 🧀🔥 🍗 Main: Ordered the Canard Confit (Confit Duck Leg). It came with a warm salad dressed in vinaigrette and potatoes with a hint of goat cheese. Very filling—if you’re dining alone, you probably won’t need an extra salad. 😉 The French really know how to make even veggies feel special with a "warm salad"... though honestly, why not just stir-fry it? 😂 The duck itself was amazing—tender, crispy-skinned, and super satisfying. 🥘 My friend got the Coq au Vin: Red wine-braised chicken with potatoes, brown mushrooms, bacon, and pearl onions. Chicken isn’t as fatty as duck, so it’s a bit leaner, but still cooked perfectly. The red wine gave it a slight sweetness—almost like a French version of Chinese braised pork! 🍷🍄 The mushrooms really elevated the dish with extra umami. We also got a green salad on the side (a bit too much to finish!) and complimentary bread. 🥖 The decor is unpretentious, and the servers are super friendly—it really feels like a neighborhood French spot. 👨🍳❤️ The older gentleman sitting next to us seemed like a regular. Right after he sat down, the server asked: “The usual? Steak with a glass of Bordeaux?” 👴🍷 He enjoyed his meal while scrolling on his phone—looking pretty cool doing solo dinner goals! 😎 Cozy, great food, generous portions—down-to-earth but full of charm. I definitely want to come back and try their steak next time! 🥩 Have you been here? What’s your favorite dish? Or do you have a go-to neighborhood bistro?
