πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Tried Waterloo's Most Popular American BBQ – Lancaster

Restaurant name: The Lancaster Smokehouse πŸ“ 574 Lancaster St W, Kitchener (Here, "Waterloo" refers to the entire Waterloo region) I’d long heard of this place and even checked out reviews beforehand. Luckily, the weather was nice today, so I made a special trip to try it. As soon as I walked in, it felt different. The staff were super friendly and spoke slowly, making it feel like a neighborhood get-together rather than a stiff commercial spot. 😊 Then came the ordering. I went for the 2 Meat Platters combo, which is $34.5 on the menu. It includes 2 types of meat + 2 sides + a cornbread. (πŸ– Meat options: brisket, pulled pork, ribs, smoked chicken wings, smoked chicken legs, sausage – with brisket costing an extra $4. πŸ₯— Side options: creamed corn, fries, sweet potato fries, vinegar cucumber, etc. – quite a variety!) Following recommendations, I picked: Beef brisket Ribs Sweet potato fries Cucumber salad When the plate arrived, I was shocked by the huge portions of meat! 🀣🀣🀣 First, the beef brisket 🌟🌟 There were 2 pieces. To give you an idea of size – I compared them to my fist. The brisket was tender overall, with a mix of lean meat, fat, and tendons, giving it a nice chew. Decent stuff. Next, the ribs 🌟🌟 Unlike traditional tender, fall-off-the-bone ribs, these had a firmer, smoky style (see pic 2). Nothing special, but edible. Now, the star of the meal – sweet potato fries 🌟🌟🌟 Their sweet potato fries were amazing (see pic 3)! So delicious! The sweet potatoes themselves were high-quality, naturally sweet, and they were fried to perfection – crispy outside, soft inside, with each fry full of flavor. Easily the best dish here. Lastly, the cucumber salad 🌟🌟🌟 Pic 4 shows fresh cucumbers. It wasn’t anything groundbreaking on its own, but the magic was in the pairing. The rich, savory meat, the sweet crunch of the fries, and the tangy cucumber created a ε₯‡ε¦™ balance, resulting in a unique flavor experience. Plus, BBQ and fried food can be heavy, so the sour cucumber worked perfectly to cut through the greasiness. Overall, this meal was worth it for a taste of Southern American BBQ.
