🇨🇦 Vancouver's The Sandbar - Tourist Trap or Hidden Gem? 🦞🌊
📍 The Sandbar Seafood Restaurant 1535 Johnston St (Granville Island) This veteran seafood spot sits right by Granville Bridge with decent water views—but let's be real: it's the "Peking Duck at Wangfujing" of Vancouver. Tourists flock here after market visits; locals? Not so much. 😅 🦀 What We Tried (For Science!) ✨ The Sandbar Tower • 6 shrimp, 12 oysters, 2 tuna types, ½ Dungeness crab, 1 lobster • Oysters = fishy 😬 (rest was okay) ✨ Wok-Tossed Mussels White wine + garlic broth = solid! ✨ Caesar Salad Basic. Moving on. ✨ Grilled Prawn Thai Noodle Salad My fave! Sweet-tangy kick. ✨ Seafood Plates (Tuna/Salmon/Cod) Huge portions but meh flavors. Why the random rice? 🤔 ✨ Sushi Tower 🚨 AVOID. Even average sushi joints do better. 🍷 The Truth About "Upscale" Seafood Real deal spots (Blue Water, Coast, Joe Fortes) outclass this place in: • Wine lists 🍾 • Seafood quality 🐟 • Overall finesse Verdict: Fine for tourists wanting views—but DT has WAY better options. #VancouverEats #SeafoodLover #TouristVsLocal #GranvilleIsland #FoodieTruth #OverratedEats #BetterOptions #VancouverDining #HonestReviews
