🇨🇦 Vancouver Hiking | Elfin Lakes & Opal Cone Adventure 🌋
Celebrated Canada Day (July 1) with an epic 2-day backpacking trip through Garibaldi Provincial Park—39km round trip, 1,624m elevation gain, and nonstop jaw-dropping views of snow-capped peaks, volcanic cones, and glacial valleys. 🌄 Trail Highlights • Atwell Peak: A perfect pyramid of layered volcanic rock—constantly visible and utterly majestic. • Opal Cone: The star of the show! This cinder cone volcano has a dramatic crater and wind-sculpted snow patterns (now my laptop wallpaper!). • Glacial Landscapes: Hiked through U-shaped valleys, moraines, and icy streams—felt like exploring Mars. ⛺ Camping Perks • Elfin Lakes Campground: Woke up to Atwell Peak views (eating breakfast with this backdrop = core memory). • Pro Tip: Filtered glacier lake water tastes better than bottled—seriously! ⚠️ Notes & Near-Misses • Ring Creek Crossing: The bridge is solid (no wet feet!). • The Gargoyles Detour: Skipped due to storm clouds (next time!). • Snow Status: Late-season patches added adventure spice. 📍 Garibaldi Provincial Park (Diamond Head Trailhead) #BackcountryBC #VolcanicViews #GlacierHikes #WildernessVibes #EpicSunrises
