đ¨đŚ Victoria Cuisine | A little seafood restaurant hidden upstairs
Stepping into this restaurant requires climbing a narrow little staircaseânothing too tricky, but it adds a cozy, hidden-gem feel! Once inside, I noticed most diners were white; I didnât spot any other Asian faces. But the servers were so sweetâthey gave us such warm, âextra careâ attention, checking in to ask if we had questions about the menu or how dishes were meant to be eaten. Such a nice touch! đ First up: Smoked Trout â $21.5 Itâs a cold dish, almost like a salad, with smoked trout, candied walnuts, red cabbage, lettuce, and more. The flavors are light and fresh, though thereâs a subtle bitter edge to the veggiesânothing overpowering, just a nice little contrast! đĽ Then, the standout: Sablefish â $35 This oneâs a creative fusion dish, and itâs so fun! Think perfectly seared sablefish (buttery and flaky!) paired with Shanghai bok choy, tiny fried buns, and a rich curry sauce. The mix of textures and flavorsâumami fish, crisp veggies, savory curryâworks way better than youâd expect. So flavorful! đ⨠đ Upstairs Seafood & Oyster Bar (Ferris') 536 A Yates St, Victoria, BC V8W 1K8 A quick heads-up about the menu: itâs split into small and large sizes, but donât let the names fool you! âLargeâ doesnât always mean bigger portionsâfor example, the sablefish is in the large section, but its portion was actually smaller than the small-size trout. Also, each dish lists ingredients as single items, but theyâre all served together. Like, the small âshell seafoodâ dish? It comes with one of each listed mussel/clam/etc., all on one plate! Good to know before ordering! đ #VictoriaFood #CanadaTravel #VancouverIsland #CanadaFood #VictoriaSeafood
