š 940 Fort St, Victoria, BC V8V 3K2 Tucked away on a corner near Victoria Downtown, this spot isnāt super noticeable from the streetābut step inside, and itās surprisingly spacious with plenty of seats! Even on a weekday lunch, itās busy. Most servers seem to be Japanese, and while there are quite a few of them, they donāt feel very seasoned. We waited forever to get the billāno idea if they just didnāt get it or what, but it definitely made me antsy! š¤ š Lunch - Sashimi Gozen š°20 A pretty good deal for a sashimi set! First up was a hot miso soupāand since it was a cold day, sipping that warm broth right away was so comforting š„£. The set comes with three types of sashimi: salmon, tuna, and snapper, four pieces each. Among the bunch, the tuna was the bestāeven though it had that frozen-fish texture, there was a subtle creaminess if you chewed slowly. The salmon and snapper werenāt bad, just not fatty or tenderātotally edible, but nothing to rave about š. There were also four sad little California rollsāsuper lazy, honestly. The rice was loose and dry, like it couldnāt hold together, and I donāt even like rice that much! I asked to swap the rice for extra salad, which meant I got two bowls of way too sour salad š£. Maybe the kitchen forgot to shake the dressingāfirst they poured all the olive oil, then just vinegar? Even I, a total vinegar fan, thought it was eye-wateringly tart. The āfruitā was a tiny slice of cucumberālooked fresh, but tasted bland. Guess itās not cucumber season, so I get it, but still š„. ā Chestnut Tiramisu š°10 Such a letdown! Thereās zero chestnut flavorātastes just like the pre-made cups from Costco š„“. The cream is grainy and cloyingly sweet, and the cake layers are so soaked in syrup theyāre sickly sweet. Total miss, didnāt finish it. #Canada #CanadaFood #VancouverIsland #Victoria #Foodie #LifeSnippets #FoodTour #MyDailyLife
