🇨🇦 What to Do in Edmonton? Royal Alberta Museum 🏛️

Spent three to four days in Edmonton, and it rained one afternoon — perfect time to explore the museum! ☔ Having been to museums in Ottawa (so huge you can’t finish in a day), I thought Edmonton’s might be smaller. It is compact, but if you read the descriptions and watch the videos, you’ll need a solid afternoon! ⏳ 👉 Name: Royal Alberta Museum 📍 Address: 9810 103a Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 0G2 Museum Sections: 🆕 New Angkor Wat Exhibition: Many temple statues are incredibly lifelike. According to the descriptions, locals still worship and make offerings here — felt so sacred I didn’t take photos 🙏 (It’s in our Chinese DNA: better not to photograph temples 😅). 🌿 Natural History Gallery: Learn about Indigenous Peoples (First Nations) — how they lived, hunted, and signed treaties with settlers. Felt like a flashback to Grade 12 social studies! 📚 Their main food source was buffalo — I knew they were big, but not THIS big (easily 2x the size of a truck!). 🐂 Prehistoric fossils: dinosaurs 🦖, mammoths, sabertooth tigers, and a giant sloth-like creature (looked so clumsy, no wonder it went extinct 😂). Geology section with volcanic rocks and mineral formations 🌋 — perfect for geology nerds! Exhibits on Canada’s technological evolution: Industrial Revolution, firearms, textiles, medicine, airplanes ✈️, etc. There’s even an aquarium with clownfish and their… abstract-looking friends 😵‍💫. I was glued to the tank for 10 mins (also because there’s a couch 🛋️). 🦎 Bug Room (Insectarium): The temperature rises as you step in — it’s filled with spiders and insects 🕷️🐜. If you’re scared, SKIP THIS ROOM! My friend dragged me in, and I spotted every single bug instantly 😱. ✅ Highly recommended if you love history, nature, or geology — or if you just need shelter from the rain while feeling cultured 😌. 💰 Affordable too: ~$21 per person (we paid ~$70 for three). 🐍 Fun highlight: I got to touch a cute hognose snake with a wiggly little snout! 🐽 Who else isn’t afraid of snakes but terrified of bugs? 🙋‍♀️ #Edmonton #EdmontonLife #ExploreEdmonton #RoyalAlbertaMuseum #MuseumLovers #DinosaurFossils #FamilyFun #RainyDayActivity #CanadianHistory #TravelAlberta 🦖🌧️🧭
