🇨🇦 Who Still Remembers This Legendary Duck Confit Rice? 🦆🍚
I’ve always had high expectations for Baro’s famous Peruvian-style duck confit rice, and finally got the chance to try it! Overall impression: Do they even charge for cilantro here?! 🌿💸 🐂 Beef Tartare - $26 This place serves their beef tartare not with bread, but with something like a crispy chip—pretty unique! The tartare itself is delicious, but heads up: it’s loaded with avocado 🥑 and cilantro. Avoid if you’re not a fan! 😅 🦆 OG Duck CHAUFA - $43 The highly hyped duck confit fried rice does NOT disappoint. Topped with fish roe, packed with duck meat, edamame, corn, chili, and more, it’s a generous portion. Served in a sizzling stone pot, so you get that crispy bottom layer (yum!) and it stays warm the whole time. Only downside? The duck portion could be a teensy bit more. 😏 🐙 Octopus with Potatoes - $25 The octopus tentacles are incredibly tender and flavorful. The sauce underneath has a tangy, slightly spicy kick—absolutely loved it! 10/10 would recommend. 👌🔥 🍗 POLLO ASADO - $40 Half a roasted chicken—not too tough, not too soft, just decently cooked. The chicken flavor is strong, but the accompanying sauce has this weird herbal taste… not sure if I’m into it. 🤨 🥔 PAPAS RELLENAS - $20 Fried potato balls stuffed with a bit of ground beef. The beef filling is a little sparse, and it can feel slightly heavy after a few bites. BUT the dipping sauce is fantastic—even the roasted chicken tastes better with it! 😋 Overall, the food is solid, and this place is definitely worth a revisit. Next time, I’m asking for NO cilantro! 🚫🌿 Also, their pineapple juice is surprisingly refreshing. 🍍✨ #food #toronto #torontolife #foodie #torontofood #eat #restaurantrecommendations #roastedchicken #hiddenrestaurants #treasuredrestaurants #secretfoodspots #uoft #torontoexplorer #toronto
