🇨🇦Halifax | A Coastal Town Full of Legends 🏟️🌊

During a five-day academic conference in Halifax, I took some free time to explore this charming little town. Initially, I didn't have high expectations, but I found myself deeply moved by everything here.🤷😕 Strolling along the historic waterfront and diverse museums, I truly felt that although this city keeps a low profile, it harbors countless touching legends and stories. 🚶‍♀️📚 🌍Pier 21 Immigration Museum (p2): A museum transformed from a pier, this was the most impressive exhibit on my trip. t faithfully recreates the facilities and processes of immigration back in the day. Halifax was once a landing point for countless immigrants, where many stories and new chapters began (see my previous post~) 🌟 Student ID holders can enjoy discounted tickets. 🚢Maritime Museum of the Atlantic (p3): The Titanic exhibition is definitely worth a visit. 🌸👧 Halifax is an important city for commemorating the Titanic, as many rescue operations launched from here, and some authentic furniture from the ship is on display. 🌟 Free admission from 5-8 PM every Tuesday. 🏯Halifax Citadel (p4): A military fortress built during the colonial era, the tradition of firing a noon gun continues to this day, serving as an important timekeeping method in ancient times. I recommend joining the 11 AM guided tour at the visitor center; you'll arrive at the gun-firing location right around 11:55 AM. 🌊Peggy’s Cove (p5): A serene little fishing village with Nova Scotia's famous lighthouse, making it a worthwhile short seaside trip. I joined a small tour with GetYourGuide that included transportation. If you have ample time, I suggest checking the weather forecast before choosing a date. Remember not to step on the dark-colored reefs. 🎨Nova Scotia Art Gallery (p6): I didn't get to explore it thoroughly, but there are works by local and Indigenous Nova Scotian artists. 🌟 Free admission from 5-9 PM every Thursday; you'll need to check in at the front desk first. ⛴️Ferry to Dartmouth - Alderney (p7): The scenery is absolutely stunning, and a one-way ticket costs only $3.75. From the other side, you can enjoy a complete view of Halifax's skyline. 🌷Halifax Public Gardens (p8): One of the best-preserved Victorian-style gardens in North America, located right in the city center. 🚌Transportation: Download the HFX GO app to purchase ferry and bus tickets on your phone. For trips to and from the airport, take the 320 bus (note that you'll need to buy a $4 Regional Express ticket). Buses generally run every hour, so plan ahead. 🌸🎈 Most attractions in the city are within walking distance (it's a very walkable city), but you'll need to climb some slopes to reach the Citadel, so wear comfortable shoes. 🏠Next up: My experience at a youth hostel! 🛌😴 #Halifax #Canada#NovaScotia
